Back to School?

Back to School 2026

“Simon, I’ve got four kids. I’ve got to choose which two will go to school. How can I possibly choose which two won’t be going this September?”

Hi folks,

The above is such a common scenario in Burundi. State education is free, but you have to buy your child’s uniform, pen, paper, etc.  When you’re struggling to provide even one meal a day, those basic items are unaffordable. And that leads to the most horrendous of dilemmas…

I’ve got three kids. I simply can’t imagine having to choose who gets to go to school. Thankfully, you and I have never had to.

So September is the worst time of the year for many Burundians. And our GLO brothers and sisters, working full-time and flat out for Jesus, are in the same boat.

We’ve got to help them!

And we do, each year. We’re giving £42 to each family working for our partners to cover these costs. There are 962 staff across all partners, so we’re committed to raising over £40k to make this happen.

Could you help one family? Or three? Or five?

Thank you – your support will give parents a sigh of relief and protect the dreams of thousands of precious little lives this school year!
