Ready to Ride!

It’s a busy time of year! Over the last few weeks, I have been bombing around the UK with various speaking engagements – I love being out and meeting people, it’s definitely one of my favourite parts of my job (if you’d like to book me or a member of the GLO team for your church or event then get in touch here!).
But next week I’ll be back on the bike for the 11th Tour du Burundi! As I head back, I’m conscious that it’s as tough as it has ever been out there, and am constantly thinking about my brothers and sisters as they face the relentless challenges of daily life in Burundi.
We have an absolute dream team assembled! The route is planned, hotels are booked, supplies ordered, and most importantly 13 riders match-fit and raring to go. These intrepid explorers are chomping at the bit to hit the hills of Burundi. It is an awesome experience to ride 700 km around the majestic hinterland.
There will be laughter, sweat and probably some tears – but we’ll be spurred on by knowing that people around the world are getting behind us, raising vital resources for our work in Burundi.
Part of what makes these trips so life-changing is that the riders get to see the impact of their efforts for themselves. They can shake the hand of the widow living in the brick house instead of a shack, laugh with the children in our schools, which are the best in the province, walk amongst the 8ft corn crops feeding a once-starving community. Best of all, they get to sit down with some of the highest calibre leaders in the country and hear their jaw-dropping stories. The blessing really flows both ways on these trips.
Follow along with us on the journey. You can connect on social media – follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@TourDuBurundi), or even support our efforts with a donation.
Maybe you’d like to join us for a future tour too? Find out more about it here.
It’s an incredible event. I’m so glad that we can do this together.
